EARLY MORNING BOX IN THE LOCAL

The company along with 68, RIT 45, and 100-7 were dispatched to 1588 Summitt Ave for a building fire. Rescue 39(9B) arrived to find unattended cooking with a heavy smoke condition. 39-9b held the assignment to the rescue for ventilation. Company was back in quarters within the hour.

 
 
COVER TO THE EAST SIDE

Rescue 39 along with Engine 68 and Tower 61 were dispatched to cover station 81 while they were operating on a two alarm fire on the west end. Rescue 39 with a crew of 6 covered for about 5 1/2 hours recieving 1 call. The city box assignment was dispatched to 548 Dorian Ct for a building fire with possible entrapment. Pd arrived with light smoke showing and advised everyone was out of the house. Chester 11B(Capasso) arrived and determined it to be unattended cooking and held the assignment to 82's covers. The rescue returned back to the city of linwood and was off radio at 0048HRS.

 
   
 
BOX TRUCK WELL INVOLVED ON THE INTERSTATE

Just after noon today the Rescue was dispatched to I95 NB in the area of the rest area for a vehicle fire. Rescue 39(Boyd) made the response and arrived to find a box truck with the engine compartment and cab well involved. Crews placed a line inservice and had the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The rescue remained on scene for a little over an hour.

 
 
RESCUE RUNS ANOTHER BOX, THIS TIME IN MARCUS HOOK BOROUGH

Around 11:30am, the MHTFD Box assignment was struck to 10th St/Plaza St for the Building Fire. On the ticket were Company 68, Rescue 39, Company 40 & Tower 61. 68-9C (Clausen) went on location advising he had heavy fire with exposure to MHTFD’S Firehouse. Ladder and Engine 68 went responding just after the dispatch. Ladder 68 dropped the 5" and put the stick in service, & the Rescue dropped the 5" and supplied Tower 61. Ladder 68, Rescue 39 & Tower 61 had the front of the building. Rescue 40 also dropped 5" and was in the rear with Engine 40 and 681. 68-9C(Clausen) took 10th St Command, Deputy 39(Durbano) Operations, and 40-9(Montello) had the Sector "C" Division. Numerous Master streams were placed in service by Engine 40, Tower 61, & Ladder 68. Portable Deck Guns and hand lines were also placed in service. RESCUE RUNS BOX IN ASTON TOWNSHIP

Just after noon today the Aston Township Box Assignment was struck to 3355 Bancroft Drive for a working house fire. Pd went on location first confirming a working fire and advised everyone was out of the building. 63-9 arrived next and advised 63-2 to stretch out from Weir Rd and Bancroft Dr. Rescue 39 arrived just after 63-2. Crews from 63 and 39 started to make an interior attack but were backed out due to deteriorating conditions. Master streams and handlines were then set up from the exterior. Those on scene quickly put Cover Company’s into place. At the 20-minute mark, crews were in service with 3 hand lines, and still working the bulk of the fire. Crews started ventilating windows, and kept working lines for about a half an hour. Other units on scene included 63, 72, 45, 71, NCC 13 R.I.T., 40, 23 (2nd R.I.T), and Canteen 47. Thanks to Middletown 50 and Gloucester County 18 for covering the local from station 40.

 
   
   
 
CLAYMONT COVER DURING THERE OPEN HOUSE

Today the rescue was requested to cover Claymont from 1000 to 1600 HRS while they attended there building dedication and open house for there new state of the art facility. The Rescue covered along with Truck 63 (Green Ridge). Around lunchtime the high rise box was struck for 2307 Society Drive in claymont's 1st due. Rescue 39, Truck 63, and Rescue 11 made the response from Station 13. Units arrived with nothing evident from the exterior and began to check the building. Crews found unnattended cooking in one of the apartments on the 3rd floor. Claymont Command(C.Durbano) placed it under control holding Rescue 39 and Truck 63 for ventilation. We would like to thank Claymont fire company for the invite and the hospitality and wish them the best of luck with there new building.

 
   
   
 
INVESTIGATION OF FIRE ALARM, WRECK WITH FUEL SPILL ON MARKET

In the late evening, The Company was dispatched to Market & Hutchinson for investigation of a Fire Alarm Sounding. The Rescue and 39-9(Fuller) made the response and investigated the surrounding areas. The Sounding Alarm was determined to be coming from the Sun Oil Refinery. Chief 39 made himself and the Rescue available shortly after. About 10 minutes after going off radio, The Rescue was dispatched to Market St between Laughead & Hutchinson for a Accident with a fuel spill. Chief 39 arrived on location with a Car vs. 2 parked vehicles with no injuries. The crew from Rescue 39 controlled all hazards and provided lighting for the police investigation. The Company returned to quarters within the hour.

 
   
   
 
GAS FED HOUSE EXPLOSION IN FELTONVILLE

Around Lunch time on the hottest day of the year since 2006, the street assignment was struck for the Felton Ave in Chester Twp. for the Building fire with a possibile explosion. 29 cars arrived on scene to report a working basement fire. Engine & Rescue 39 under the command of Captains K. Boyd & B.Edwards made the response. Engine 47 arrived on scene and put a line in service. Command was established and all crews were pulled out for an exterior attack due to a natural gas fed fire in the basement with a partial building collapse from the explosion. Master streams were placed in service and PECO was able to secure the gas to the home. Companies operating on the fire scene 47, 68, 61, 52, 57, 63, RIT 72, Medics 81, 83, M100 & 100-7, Canteens 47 & 67. Units operated under the command of 47-12A Allen Sadler, 63-9B K. Dawson had Operations and 68-9A Jay Smith had manpower & Medic 100 Jeff Winters had EMS command. During our Company Meeting this evening, we had a special presentation from the Green Ridge Fire Company along with Mike Golla from Mikesboards.com. They presented us with a wall shield in honor and memory of our fallen brother Lieutenant Nick Picozzi II. They also presented a nicely done wooden photo album that will be given to Nick's Family. We would like to Thank our fellow Brothers and Sisters from Green Ridge for everything they have done while we continue to heal from the loss our Fallen Brother Lt. Picozzi, a true brotherhood! Thanks also to Mike Golla from Mikesboards.com for his hard work and dedication in putting this tribute together for us.

DELCO BREAKS GROUND FOR THE FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS AND EMS MEMORIAL

It is now official we have been given all our permissions from county council and the county park board to proceed forward with our Fallen Fire and EMS Memorial in Rose Tree Park next to the Police Memorial. Today several people attended the ground breaking at Rose Tree Park. Members of the Park Board, County Council, Delco Fire/EMS Memorial Committee The Kangas Family, The Reagan Family, The Picozzi Family, Brookhaven Fire Company, Sharon Hill Fire Company, and Lower Chichester Fire Company were all on hand to help with this special day. The Delaware County Fallen Firefighters and Ems Memorial invites you to be part of a special limited commemorative opportunity. You are invited to purchase a brick in memory of a Firefighter, a loved one, a veteran, or for any special occasion. A distinctive and permanent location at the Memorial site will be dedicated to incorporate your donated bricks. Your contribution will be an everlasting tribute to the community; those killed in the line-of-duty, and all volunteer Firefighters and Ems. The proceeds will help support the cost of the Memorial. This is a limited offering so reserve your brick now!! The bricks are 4" x 8" and cost $50.00 Inscription limited to 20 characters per line including spaces and punctuation. MEMBERS PAY FINAL RESPECTS FOR TWO FALLEN BROTHERS

This week members attended the services for Bill Moor and Rocky Eusden. Bill and Rocky were both life members of the Lower Chichester Fire Company. Bill served as President, Rescue Captain, and Chief Engineer during his time with us at Station 39. Both members were a great asset to the fire service and they will be greatly missed by all who knew them. We would like to thank both men for their service and dedication to the fire service. CONDOLENCES TO THE BROOKHAVEN AND GREEN RIDGE FIRE COMPANIES ON THE PASSING OF JIM VOSS

Mr. Voss was a 49 year Life Member of Brookhaven Fire Company and a 32 year Life Member of Green Ridge Fire Company. Mr. Voss held the positions of Engineer, Emergency Management Coordinator and Fire Marshall in Brookhaven and also Chief, Deputy Chief & Assistant Chief at Green Ridge as well as Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator and Assistant Fire Marshall in Aston Township. Services for Mr. Voss are as follows: Viewing will be on Saturday, May 24th 2008 from 0900 to 1100 hours at Minshall Shrophire Funeral Home in Middletown with a service to follow. Burial will follow at the Lawn Croft Cemetery in Lower Chichester Township. Any departments wishing to attend the services for Mr. Voss are asked to contact Chief Rob Montella (52-9) @ 610-960-4478 or Lt. Dewey Burnett (52-13A) @ 610-888-2778 with the number of apparatus and personnel attending.
